Eleven U.S. residents were hosted by La Asociacion Coordinadora Municipal de Proyectos de Ciudades (COMPALCIHT), Dos Pueblos’ partner in Nicaragua. The delegation included public health professionals, medical practitioners, administrators, a fiscal expert, a professional photographer, an architect, a retired teacher, and others.

The visit was highlighted by the dedication of the Dr. Evelyn Abrams Mauss Potable Water Project in the community of La Esperanza, with Evelyn’s son speaking at the dedication.

  • Visiting feeding centers and pre-schools.
  • Learning about projects of chicken raising and fertilizer.
  • Attending the inauguration of the newly elected mayor and municipal counci
  • Discussing on COMPALCIHT plans (using funds from foundations we obtained in the US) for potable water in one community and a central computer school focusing on the needs of youth. Seeing the conditions of sweatshop work Spending time with a solar energy project in Masaya with the hopes of incorporating this within the Tipitapa community. Consulting with community-based health promotion brigadistas from three communities in Tipitapa.
